Services and Supports for 2SLGBTQI+ Newcomers

One-on-One Settlement Appointments

Our 2SLGBTQI+ Community Health Worker meets with clients one-on-one to identify their settlement needs, make referrals inside and outside the agency, and support clients through the refugee process. Support is provided for housing, legal issues, financial insecurity, employment and questions about refugee claims. The 2SLGBTQI+ Community Health Worker also connects clients to community resources. Interpretation services are available for all appointments.

Ongoing Group Programming

We offer a variety of in-person group programs for our community members to connect with other 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers, learn valuable skills, gain knowledge about the 2SLGBTQI+ community and have fun in a safer space. Currently we have two main group programs at our Danforth and Jane locations. A meal and TTC tickets are provided for all of our regular group programs.

Annual Pride Events

June is Pride Month and is a special time at Access Alliance where we celebrate 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers. Together we learn about the history and roots of Pride Month, prepare for the celebrations and take part in special events. We host Pride events throughout the month that brings everyone together to celebrate the beauty, resilience, bravery, strength and authenticity of 2SLGBTQI+ communities. Of course, there is food, cake and lots of glitter! Together we create posters and signs that we carry as we march together in Toronto’s Pride March, one of the largest Pride festivals in the world. Check our program calendar in the months leading up to June for more information.
