Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Access Alliance! Volunteers like you are vital partners in our programs and services.
Are you new to volunteering at Access Alliance? If you would like to support any of the volunteer roles listed below, please complete our online volunteer application and indicate your area(s) of interest in the form (scroll down for the application link). It usually takes 2–3 weeks to fully process a new volunteer application. You will be contacted for an interview and orientation before you are formally registered, on-boarded, and begin volunteering. Please note that only registered volunteers can volunteer in our regular programs.
If you are unsure whether you already have a volunteer profile with us, please ask our Volunteer Program to check before submitting an application.
Please note that we do not offer medical or clinical volunteer roles due to liability and regulatory requirements. However, we offer a wide range of other volunteer opportunities that support and strengthen the social determinants of health of our communities.
Also, please do NOT apply if none of the following roles meets your interest or availability. We ask you to kindly mention the positions your are interested in when fill out the application form. All applicants for volunteer positions at Access Alliance must read the and agree to our Volunteer Agreement before applying. Once accepted, volunteers are required to submitted a signed agreement.
Current Opportunities
Healthy Child Screening Assistant
Healthy Child Screening was designed to early identify and development challenges in children 2-6 years of age. This will help parents and teacher to have a better understand of children and how to interact with them. The position requires Healthy Child Screening Assistants to help in any area of the event, such as food, greeters, station assistant, registration, etc.
Tasks:
- Assist in the flow of the screening day
- Ensuring movement at each station, preventing backlog
- Support parents with questions and make sure they know where to go
- Will be assigned to assist at individual stations where needed

- Confidence in public speaking and plain language skills

Tutors for Youth (Math & English)
The Youth Tutor Volunteers will support newcomer and immigrant youth participants by providing in-person tutoring and homework support in Math and English. Volunteers will help youth strengthen academic skills, improve study habits, and build confidence in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
Tasks:
- Provide in-person tutoring support to youth participants in Math and English.
- Support youth with homework completion and academic skill-building.
- Help participants improve reading, writing, grammar, and problem-solving skills.
- Support youth with study strategies, organization and time management.
- Facilitate one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions.
- Encourage participation and create a positive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with staff to support youth learning goals.
- Assist with setting up learning materials and activities when needed.
Location: AccessPoint on Danforth – 3079 Danforth Ave, Scarborough, ON M1L 1A8
Time Commitment:
- On-going program
- 5-week
- Tuesday (between 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm)
Qualification and Requirements:
- Strong skills in Math and/or English.
- Experience tutoring youth or supporting students is an asset (not required).
- Patient, supportive, and comfortable working with youth.
- Comfortable supporting newcomer youth from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to commit to the full 5-week program.
- Must complete Access Alliance volunteer onboarding requirements.
Community Events | Event Support
Volunteers will assist with various community events in a range of support roles. Opportunities may vary by event and can include different dates, locations, and time commitments.

Please be advised that Access Alliance follows Toronto Public Health’s vaccine recommendations for health organizations. If a vaccine mandate is announced, proof of vaccination will be required to join the volunteer teams at Access Alliance. We currently require all staff, volunteers, and placement students to be vaccinated accordingly.
