Some questions you might have:
If I don’t have OHIP, can I be your patient?
Yes! You don’t need OHIP, IFH or insurance from another province to become a patient at Access Alliance.
What happens after I fill in a “Sign up to be a patient” contact form?
Within 3 weeks someone from Access Alliance’s primary care team will contact you with any questions, or to schedule an intake appointment with a member of our primary care team.
What sorts of services do you provide?
Our primary health care team includes:
- Doctors and nurse practitioners
- Nurses
- Interpreters
- Medical secretaries
- Psychiatrists (through the Toronto Urban Health Alliance)
- Registered dietitians
- Registered social workers & therapists
- Physiotherapist & occupational therapist
We provide culturally sensitive and language accessible primary health care, illness and disease prevention and health education services to new immigrants and refugees of all ages living in Toronto. In addition to our health care services, we offer newcomer settlement services, and a wide range of newcomer-friendly community programs and events.
Do I have to live in a specific neighborhood to be your patient?
Currently, Toronto neighbourhoods we’re prioritizing include the following postal code areas: M6J, M5V, M6N, M4C and M3C. We accept patient applications from across the city, with a focus on those living within easy travelling distance to one of our clinics. Anyone needing a doctor will be attached to one, either with Access Alliance, or by a referral to a provider closer to their home address.
What if I have family members or friends that also need a doctor?
They’re welcome to sign up as well! Anyone who would like to register as an Access Alliance patient must submit their own contact form (parents can submit forms on behalf of their children.)
What if I already have a doctor, but want to switch?
At the moment, we are accepting and prioritizing new patients who currently do not have a doctor.
