The Non-Insured Clinic is now open.

The Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) offers confidential primary care services to immigrants and refugees in Toronto who do not have health insurance. We offer you care on an appointment basis – see our hours below.

We do not charge for the care we provide. The clinic team includes a nurse practitioner (NP), nurse, midwife, secretary and peer health support worker.

The clinic is located at our downtown Toronto location: 340 College Street, Suite 500 (on the 5th floor).

Please note: The Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) does not include a walk-in service.

To book an appointment, please call 416-324-9380 between 9:00 and 9:30 am on:

  • Monday (to book an appointment for Monday or Tuesday)
  • Thursday (to book an appointment for Thursday or Friday)

When you come to the clinic please wear a mask and bring a list of any medications you may be taking, and any medical records that may be important for our team to know about your health.

Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) hours:

  • Monday: 12:30 – 7:30 pm
  • Tuesday: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Wednesday: CLOSED
  • Thursday: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Friday: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm

Who can use the Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) ?

You can use the Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) if you:

  • Are an immigrant or refugee who lives in the City of Toronto; and
  • Do not have a primary care provider (family doctor, nurse practitioner; obstetrician/midwife for pregnant clients); and
  • Do not have medical insurance or current coverage under the Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP) due to:
    • No legal immigration status (non-status).
    • Refugee claim process and IFH is expired or refugee claim was rejected/suspended/ineligible.
    • Moving to Toronto from another country for temporary work and making minimum wage (or less) and cannot afford private health insurance.

You cannot use the Non-Insured Clinic (NIC) if you:

  • Are a current visitor, student, or on a work visa; or
  • Have private health care insurance; or
  • Have Interim Federal Health (IFH) coverage; or
  • Have Ontario Health Insurance Program (OHIP) coverage.

Proof of documentation is strictly required for the use of Non-Insured Clinic for eligibility purposes.
