Delivery Drivers – Holiday Hamper Volunteer

About Access Alliance:

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a multi-service community agency that works to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic barriers and poverty. The Centre envisions a future in which Toronto’s diverse communities achieve health with dignity. 

Access Alliance’s Holiday Hampers Initiative has been providing essential and gifts items to our neighbors for more than 20 years.  Our initiative is unique because it not only meets the needs of low-income families with children of all ages but also, newcomers, seniors and youth.  We are seeking 10 – 15 volunteers to help out with our Holiday Hamper program.

Focus area: Children & Families

Volunteer Position Description: Volunteers will deliver Holiday Hamper packages for our newcomer and low-income families living in the Taylor Massey, Secord, Lumsden, Crescent Town and Oakridge neighborhoods during the 2023 Holiday Season.

Location: 91 Barrington Ave, Secord Community Centre

Time Commitment: 

    • Attend 1-hour virtual Info and Training Sessions with coordinator of the Holiday Hamper program (TBD)
    • New volunteers attend virtual onboarding with Volunteer Lead (TBD)
  • Delivery Date Friday December 22nd 2023
  • You will be required to volunteer for 4-5 hours from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm or 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Format: In-person

Volunteer Skills and Requirements: 

  • Valid Driver’s License (G2 or G) with insurance and have access to a vehicle
  • 18 years or older
  • Police Back check required
  • Organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Attention to detail is imperative
  • Demonstrated high energy level and flexibility, pleasant persona, coupled with sound judgment
  • Discreet and able to maintain confidential information
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills

Assets, but not required:

  • Ability to communicate in a second language is an asset (Tigrinya, Bengali, Portuguese Spanish, Arabic)
