Volunteer With Us

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Access Alliance! Volunteers like you are vital partners in our programs and services.

Are you new to volunteering at Access Alliance? If you would like to support any of the volunteer roles listed below, please complete our online volunteer application and indicate your area(s) of interest in the form (scroll down for the application link). It usually takes 2–3 weeks to fully process a new volunteer application. You will be contacted for an interview and orientation before you are formally registered, on-boarded, and begin volunteering. Please note that only registered volunteers can volunteer in our regular programs.

If you are unsure whether you already have a volunteer profile with us, please ask our Volunteer Program to check before submitting an application.

Please note that we do not offer medical or clinical volunteer roles due to liability and regulatory requirements. However, we offer a wide range of other volunteer opportunities that support and strengthen the social determinants of health of our communities.

Also, please do NOT apply if none of the following roles meets your interest or availability. We ask you to kindly mention the positions your are interested in when fill out the application form. All applicants for volunteer positions at Access Alliance must read the and agree to our Volunteer Agreement before applying. Once accepted, volunteers are required to submitted a signed agreement.

Community Events | Event Support

Community Dining Program Cooking Assistant – AccessPoint on Jane:
We’re looking for volunteers to support Access Alliance’s Community Dining Program as a Cooking Assistant. This role helps prepare and serve nutritious meals to community members while supporting efforts to reduce food insecurity in the Jane and Woolner neighbourhood.

Time commitment:
Ongoing volunteer opportunity taking place every Thursday from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM at AccessPoint on Jane (761 Jane St., Toronto.)
Volunteer duties include cooking, chopping, and slicing ingredients; cleaning and washing kitchen equipment; serving and plating meals; preparing snacks, cutlery, and meal containers; assisting with food distribution; setting up and taking down kitchen and dining areas; lifting large pots and food supplies as needed; and supporting general kitchen clean-up to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Among Friends Program Support – AccessPoint on Danforth:

The Among Friends program is currently seeking committed volunteers to support its weekly Thursday program, which supports 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers, building connection and community. The program addresses mental well-being and stress management, and offers settlement support and access to community resources. This is an ongoing opportunity taking place every Thursday at AccessPoint on Danforth (3079 Danforth Ave., Toronto), with volunteer roles available in Culinary, Registration, and Facilities Support. Shifts run between 3:00–8:00 pm, depending on the role, and offer opportunities to support meal preparation, participant registration, room set-up, food service, and community engagement.

Please be advised that Access Alliance follows Toronto Public Health’s vaccine recommendations for health organizations. If a vaccine mandate is announced, proof of vaccination will be required to join the volunteer teams at Access Alliance. We currently require all staff, volunteers, and placement students to be vaccinated accordingly.

Please note, only active volunteers with completed volunteer shifts have access to their personal pages.
