Short Description: 

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a Community Health Centre that aims to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which diverse individuals, families and communities can achieve health with dignity.

NOTE: To be eligible to apply for this position you must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Initiative. All positions are contingent on funding. Duration of the contract is also contingent on funding.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Communications and Resource Development Officer in managing the day-to-day communications tasks required to keep the corporate social accounts operational
  • Coordinate with program leaders to solicit quality content and arrange publishing timing
  • Work with the Communications and Resource Development Officer and Social Action Coordinator to build effective campaigns (key skills include creative storytelling, campaign planning, creation, and evaluation, audience segmentation and targeted digital marketing)
  • Generate content for agency campaigns and website updates
  • Assist with creating graphic content, copywriting and copy editing
  • Support agency-wide communications training and capacity building
  • Monitor inboxes of all social media accounts and respond accordingly, escalate the issue to the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives if necessary
  • Project-specific communications tasks as assigned
  • Other duties, relevant to the position, as assigned
  • Work evenings and weekends as required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completing/completed a university/college diploma in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism, community development, public health or a related field
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Skilled with MS Office applications, and graphics tools such as Canva
  • Familiarity with various social media platforms, primarily Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  • Good writing skills in English are required
  • Excellent team spirit and willingness to learn are critical to this job
  • Attention to detail makes all the difference
  • Some graphic design/photography skills are preferred
  • Demonstrated flexibility and time management skills in a high-pressure environment and ability to maintain a positive attitude
  • Previous work experience (including volunteering) in communications and marketing is preferred

Salary: $18.20 per hour

Hours: 35 per week

Bargaining Unit: This position is excluded from the bargaining unit.

Mandatory Dates:

  • Interviews will be scheduled between May 5- May 16
  • Start Date will be June 3, 2025
