Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a multi-service community agency that works to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which Toronto’s diverse communities achieve health with dignity.

 

Position Title: Program Support (Recreational), Seniors Program

Placement Type: In-person

Number of Position Available: 1-2(depending on students’ availability)

Worksite Location and Conditions: In person Support; has to follow office policy and procedure; office setting with workspace, computer, and phone, access to canva

  • 2-3 days /week: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at Danforth
  • 1 day /week: Mondays at Jane

           

Brief Description of Practicum Project:

With the guidance and mentoring from the supervisor, the student will assist and support to the following:

  • Program planning, implementation and facilitation of recreational sessions
  • Design and develop communication tools, and outreach materials for different recreational programs and services of Seniors’ Programs
  • Support to project activities as assigned
  • Provide support in program surveys and evaluations
  • Support with documentation and report writing
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

 The student will work in an environment of access, equity, antiracism, and anti-oppression framework.  

 

Learning Outcomes/Goals:

The student will develop the following competencies in the following areas:

  • Evidence-informed program planning, facilitation, Implementation skills
  • Quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis skills
  • Report writing and documentation skills
  • Developing effective outreach materials
  • Effective outreach techniques
  • Professional communication skills and effective teamwork
  • Working experience within an anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion framework

    

Qualifications/Competencies Required:

  • Post-secondary education in any discipline related to community services, or equivalent, at regulated college or university
  • Experience with working with ethno-culturally diverse populations in Toronto;
  • Excellent computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office Suites, with intermediate level skills working with Excel;
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with crisis and conflict, and to maintain appropriate boundaries
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to communicate any of the priority languages (e.g., Tigrinya , Spanish, Bengali, etc.) will be an asset;
  • Ability to travel to Access Alliance locations at Danforth and Jane

Winter (depends on semester length) starting from January 2026
