Trishaw Logistics Planner

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is a multi-service community agency that works to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which Toronto’s diverse communities achieve health with dignity.

Position Title: Trishaw Logistics Planner

Placement Type: On-site/off-site

Number of Positions Available: 1

Brief Description of Practicum Project:

Placement student will collect the current information we have on running a Trishaw project and other relevant information from the currently running program. The student will build on what we already gathered, to create a guidelines booklet re: Trishaw functioning, maintenance, rules and regulation, safety measures, volunteers role and responsibility, how to work with seniors, etc. This is to give us a head start for when we receive the trishaw we ordered and if we receive funding from a special grant we are applying for.

Learning Outcomes/Goals:

  • Gain an understanding of the community health care setting
  • Gain an understanding of clients’ needs and issues facing newcomers
  • Apply written communication skills
  • Learning how to put technical information in plain language
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of a cool biking program offered in Canada and other countries

Qualifications/Competencies Required:

  • 2nd, 3rd or 4th-year university placement student in Community Development, Global Health (York U), or related field
  • A minimum of 200 hours of placement time is required for one semester
