Tax Filler & Administrative Support Volunteer

Volunteer Position Description 

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in becoming part of our Free Income Tax Clinic team. Our clinic provides free service for individuals and families that are low income during tax session February – May. In this position the volunteer will be supporting the program in administrative aspects and filling taxes. All volunteers will be required to complete training provided by  Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), as well as orientation by Access Alliance staff. All health and safety protocols including physical distancing and full PPE will be followed during all activities.

Tasks

  • Data entry 
  • Access and retrieve voicemails 
  • Follow-up with clients and book appointments over the phone 
  • Complete intake over the phone and provide instruction for document drop-off
  • Provide clear information to clients during phone intake and in-person drop-off
  • Prepare client files by making copies of confidential documents 
  • Store all confidential documentation in a safe, locked cabinet
  • E-file income tax for clients 
  • Follow-up with clients to ensure completion and service satisfaction

Time Commitment 

February to May 
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
Shift timing from 11:00AM – 4:30PM or 12:00PM – 6:00PM

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be double vaccinated (2 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine)
  • Registration with the CRA under the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills, familiar with Microsoft and Google Suite 
  • Good command of written and oral English 
  • Experience in filling taxes an asset
  • Ability to work in high level of confidentiality and privacy is a must 
  • Interest in income tax preparation or similar interests 
  • Must be able to provide high level of costumer service 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with low-income, multi-lingual/racial communities will be an asset 
  • Flexible and willing to take on new challenges 
  • Attend Access Alliance’s Volunteer Orientation over Zoom on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 from 6:00 – 7:30PM. Meeting details will be sent upon registration
