Physiotherapist – Maternity Leave

Short Description:

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that aims to provide services and addresses system inequities to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. The Centre envisions a future in which Toronto’s diverse communities achieve health with dignity.

AAMHCS is offering the opportunity for a physiotherapist to service individuals most in need while working in a salaried position that includes professional development and other benefits.

The physiotherapist will enjoy clinical autonomy and independence, grounded in evidence-based practice, while working with a supportive interdisciplinary primary care team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized assessment, diagnosis, treatment, health education and counselling for acute and chronic musculoskeletal or neurological dysfunctions
  • Work with members of interdisciplinary team (family physicians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and social workers) to delivery comprehensive care
  • Refer clients to appropriate internal and external resources
  • Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records
  • Assess for assistive devices (mobility equipment) and complete applications, where appropriate, for the Assistive Devices Program
  • Participate in chart reviews, case conferences, monthly meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in the Physiotherapy Network of TCLHIN CHCs

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Physiotherapy from a recognized university, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Eligibility for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Three to five years’ experience  in a health care setting with preferred experience in the community
  • Up-to-date knowledge of physiotherapy theories, practices and procedures
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills
  • Excellent clinical, motivational coaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of health and issues affecting diverse communities including socio-economic, multi-lingual, racialized and LGBTQ+ communities;
  • A commitment to work from an anti-oppressive and culturally competent perspective
  • Second language, relevant to agency service populations, is an asset.

Salary: 68,156 to 81,786/ Annual

Hours: Full time 35 Hours / Possibility of being Part-time with mutual agreement

Duration: Relief (Maternity Leave Cover, until December 31, 2023)

Bargaining Unit position: United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 175
