Human Resources Associate – full time, permanent

Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that aims to provide services and addresses system inequities to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Executive Director and working collaboratively with the management team, staff and a network of virtual HR providers, the Associate provides professional HR and undertakes special projects. This is a busy role for an HR professional to create change and make a difference! This position attends all three AAMHCS locations.
As the face of HR, you will support managers and staff with employee relations and performance management issues, including participating in investigations and developing performance interventions/letters. You’ll support management by interpreting organization policies and helping them with performance evaluations and performance improvement plans. Your advice will help ensure AAMHCS complies with all applicable employment, human rights, occupational health and safety, accessibility laws, including making policy recommendations where needed. In labour relations you will interpret the collective agreement and support union meetings and negotiations.
You will carry out full-cycle recruitment and ensure on-boarding processes run smoothly by preparing orientation information and coordinating on-boarding sessions.
You will complete implementation of an HRIS platform, including liaising with vendor(s) to implement and enhance the system. Then, you will manage HR data and reporting, as well as HR admin like employee files, the professional credentialling and liaibility insurance processes. And, you’ll assist with compensation initiatives and general HR administration like preparing letters, announcements and memos.
In wellness, health and safety, you will coordinate Workers Compensation and benefits programs, be a resource for employee benefits inquires and issues, assist plan administration as needed and participate in the JHSC program.
In training, learning and development you will implement the annual AAMHCS training plan, and coordinate activities for employees to fulfill requirements of AODA, workplace violence and harassment prevention, OH&S etc.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
For this role you will have a Bachelors degree in HR Management or a relevant degree and post-grad certificate in HR. You have achieved the CHRP designation (or will work toward it with support from AAMHCS). You have 2-3 years HR experience, ideally in small/medium-sized organizations with unionized workers; experience in the health and social services sector is an asset.
You know employment law (e.g., ESA, LRA, OHSA, OHRC), regulations and processes, as well as HR tools (especially HRIS), trends and issues. You are an excellent communicator with the skills create and maintain good working relationships in our environment of teamwork and collaboration. You provide HR with professionalism and sound judgment.
You are willing to be flexible to meet multiple priorities and deadlines, including working flex hours from time to time. And you understand the social, economic, environmental, and cultural issues on diverse communities that drive our work.
