Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that aims to provide services and addresses system inequities to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. The Centre envisions a future in which Toronto’s diverse communities achieve health with dignity.
As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant provides support and work closely with member of Corporate Office Department. The individual must have a strong belief in and be able to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the vision, mission and values of Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services. This position works both independently and collaboratively with staff, community partners, volunteers and clients. The HR Assistant reports to the Human Resource Coordinator or designate.
This is an excellent opportunity for post-secondary students (or recent graduate) in the HR program. The candidate will receive exposure to HR practices in the unionized environment. Training will be provided.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Gain experiential education while working with a team that values diverse ideas and fosters a culture of inclusion;
2. Assist in supporting the day-to-day operations of current HR systems
3. Provide support to the HR Lead with admin and HR systems, functions and duties
4. Responsible for the creation and set up of new employee files
5. Maintain Master Employee Tracking spreadsheets; includes tracking contract end dates, probation reviews and license renewals
6. Review Job Postings and Descriptions, and ensure it is up to date.
7. Ensures new employee orientation is scheduled with all internal stakeholders
8. Maintain personnel files; scan, file, and reflect documents on tracking spreadsheets
9. Support managers in hiring process as assigned
10. Research HRIS software’s to implement
11. Other duties and responsibility as assigned by the HR department
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Working towards a diploma or degree in Human Resource, Administrative Studies, Business Administration, or equivalent education, training and experience;
Experience working in an administrative capacity involving filing systems is an asset
Experience inputting data into data management systems
Demonstrated understanding and appreciation admin and HR systems and infrastructure in theory and application
Demonstrates a commitment to work from an integrated anti-oppression framework
Proficiency in windows and Microsoft office Suite. Excellent knowledge of Excel.
Experience with accounting application. Experience with QuickBooks will be an asset.
Comprehension of relational databases is an asset Good interpersonal skills with both clients, volunteers, students and co-workers
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Commitment to working with low income, multilingual and multiracial communities
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work appropriately and to meet deadlines.
Hours: 2-3 days/week (option for 5 days if available)
Rate: $16/hour + 4% vacation pay
Start Date: ASAP
