Short Description: Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services (AAMHCS) is a Community Health Centre that aims to improve health outcomes for the most vulnerable immigrants, refugees, and their communities. We do this by facilitating access to services and addressing systemic inequities. The Centre envisions a future in which diverse individuals, families and communities can achieve health with dignity. Access Alliance is a member of a consortium of seven community agencies participating in the City of Toronto Family Wellbeing Pilot Program. The goal of the pilot program is to create more inclusive, accessible, and equitable system navigation for families, through community-based, population-focused engagement, while creating positive parenting practices and enhanced family functions. The focus of the pilot is on supporting equity-deserving families who are disproportionately and most negatively impacted by youth violence in Scarborough, and that have historically experienced systemic oppression and exploitation. The target audience in this pilot are parents, guardians, caregivers, families, and communities who support youth (ages 10-29) most vulnerable to involvement in crime and violence (guns and gangs). As part of the Family Wellbeing Pilot, Access Alliance is focused on Newcomers in the Oakridge catchment area. The Access Alliance Family Wellbeing Program Ambassador will work with the Ambassadors on the Family Wellbeing Program team to conduct a variety of place-based and population-specific activities to provide education, resources and referrals to services that will allow families to improve their wellbeing. |
