Community Health Worker- Vaccine Engagement Lead

We are looking for a project lead to support the coordination of COVID-19 vaccination and response projects that Access Alliance has been implementing in Taylor Massey, Oakridge, Victoria Village, and surrounding neighborhoods. The vaccine engagement and COVID-19 recovery projects play a critical role in increasing residents’ confidence in vaccines, addressing any barriers to the acceptance and uptake of the COVID-19 vaccines and providing access to resources for COVID-impacted families. The position will coordinate the CHA outreach schedule, plan and host hyper-local, equity-focused vaccine clinics; provide referrals to Primary Care services, and connect clients with other social service organizations for their service needs.

As part of the role, the Community Health Worker is to implement an immunization mobilization plan, facilitate community engagement, disseminate vaccine messaging, organize and facilitate information sessions, and coordinate with relevant partners and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Lead AA’s Vaccine Engagement Project in the Taylor Massey, Oakridge, Victoria Village, and surrounding neighborhoods
 Participate in the collaborative planning process in all aspects of the COVID-19 Community Mobilization and Engagement Plan with the City of Toronto;
 Deliver and support a range of vaccine engagement and promotion programs, including outreach,
networking, capacity building, volunteer engagement, program planning, facilitation, and evaluation;
 Implement community mobilization and engagement plan to ensure that programs are effective in
promoting and increases vaccine confidence, ultimately increasing the number of vaccines administered;
 Outreach to vulnerable communities and support them in gaining access to the Vaccine Engagement programs and services;
 Liaise with consortium partners and other stakeholders to develop broad-based engagement strategies and keep abreast of trends, new information, and new approaches/initiatives to expedite vaccine uptake;
 Plan and facilitate information sessions, vaccine town halls, relevant events, etc.
 Assist with vaccine messaging and promotion on social media and other relevant platforms
 Be willing to be trained on key messaging on COVID-19 vaccines, common vaccine hesitancies, and other COVID-19 risk reduction strategies
 Assist in program data collection, monitoring, evaluation and funder reporting;
 Assist in other duties as assigned within the scope of the project and the job.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
 Undergraduate degree in health sciences, community development, social work, education, or a
combination of relevant education and experience.
 Minimum 3 years front-line work experience in community based work doing outreach, engagement, networking and group facilitation.
 Experience delivering COVID-19 emergency responses to vulnerable population groups;
 Demonstrated understanding of vaccine hesitancy and potential barriers to accessing vaccine by residents in the community;
 Good knowledge of health promotion, health education and health issues affecting newcomers, low-income, multi-lingual and racialized communities;
 Experience collaborating with other community organizations and working in partnership with residents and ambassadors;
 Experience in event and program planning, coordination and outcome evaluation;
 Excellent computer skills, including ability to use Publisher, Canva, PowerPoint, and social media;
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, with individuals and groups;
 Demonstrated commitment to working from an anti-oppression perspective;
 Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational and time management skills;
 Able to travel within Toronto and to work flexible shifts including evenings and occasional weekends.

Salary: $49,972 – $60,208 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Duration: Four month with the possibility of extension depending on funding
