One-on-one Settlement Support for LGBTQ Immigrants and Refugees

At Access Alliance, we recognize that Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Queer people who are new to Canada may face several challenges, including:

  • Finding LGBTQ positive medical and health care services
  • Safe housing and employment
  • Immigration issues
  • Making friends and getting support from the LGBTQ community
  • Finding relevant information
  • And much more

LGBTQ newcomers may also have to deal with:

  • Understanding and accepting themselves
  • Discrimination from their family members and community members
  • Loss of support and connection from family in Canada and in their home country
  • Realizing that homophobia and transphobia are still part of Canadian society

We provide support in dealing with these and other issues. We work in collaboration with other agencies and as part of the LGBTQ Settlement Network to build connections to LGBTQ positive resources (like doctors, therapists, shelters, volunteer groups, employment services, lawyers, and much more).

Our LGBTQ settlement counseling program supports LGBTQ newcomers in all aspects of their journey as newcomers to Toronto and to live their lives with confidence and pride.

Access Alliance provides the LGBTQ settlement services in partnership with Griffin Centre and The 519 Church Street Community Centre
