Toronto Community-Based Research Network
Access Alliance is a founding member of the Toronto Community-Based Researchi Network, established in 2007.
The Toronto Community-Based Research Network (TCBRN brings together community practitioners, academics, funders and community members from across the GTA who are or have been involved in CBR projects.
Mission
The mission of the TCBRN is to increase and sustain the capacity of local health and social service organizations and academic partners in the GTA to conduct effective Community-Based Research leading to evidence-based action and policy change. We recognizes that CBR is not a fixed research methodology but rather an approach for making research more inclusive, empowering and socially relevant.
Goals
The TCBRN is a vehicle to facilitate networking, collaboration, learning and action. The Network will promote collaborative efforts to support common objectives, which may include the following:
- to facilitate the sharing of CBR-related resources, lessons learned and best practices;
- to enhance communication about CBR-related activities and the dissemination of research results;
- to advocate for greater support from academic institutions, public and private funding organizations, and policy makers;
- to provide learning opportunities for both existing and aspiring CBR practitioners;
- to facilitate partnerships for CBR;
- to promote broad public awareness about the principles and benefits of CBR.
