Our Advocacy Efforts
Access Alliance has a long history of supporting advocacy work related to issues that affect the health and well-being of immigrants, refugees and persons without status. Many of our advocacy efforts focus on increasing access to services. For example we continue to advocate for the use of trained interpreters to reduce language barriers and call for the elimination of the three month waiting period for public health insurance (OHIP) that is imposed on new landed immigrants in Ontario. Other efforts focus on broader systemic issues such as the racialization of poverty.
